Let's take it back to 2018. The Kansas City Chiefs have an explosive offense but a lousy defense. That is exactly what cost them a chance at going to the Superbowl.

Fast forward to 2019, and the defense was fairly improved but struggled in the regular season. With the addition of Frank Clark and Tyrann Mathieu, Kansas City was able to get hot on defense in the playoffs.

Them stepping up in the postseason is what won them a Superbowl. This season they could do the same, and not just because of their offense. The defense has been just as responsible for the second straight trip to paradise.

In their big game against Buffalo, the defense found a way to contain star quarterback Josh Allen. They did something many teams have not this season, and here is how.

Chiefs Defense Put Pressure on Bills Quarterback

The Kansas City Chiefs got after the quarterback last Sunday and made it look effortless. Like I stated before, they tend to turn things up a notch during this time of year.

While no one individual player graded above a 74 in terms of pass rush, it was more a collective effort. By far, Chris Jones has been the highest-graded player on the defense this year, graded at 73.

While no, Chris Jones did not get a sack, he finished with seven total quarterback pressures. For Chris Jones to have seven of the 23 total means this Chiefs defense was clicking on all cylinders.

Frank Clark did not grade well by PFF's standards but had good moments in the game. Clark finished with two of the five total sacks Josh Allen took.

The Chiefs defensive line put fear into the Bills quarterback at times. With 23 total pressures, five sacks, three hits, and 15 hurries, the front was doing their thing out there.

The aggressiveness caused Buffalo's offensive line to get stagnant at times and even made them commit penalties. The Bills line committed five penalties by themselves, ultimately hurting Buffalo.

The Tampa Bay offensive line is much better than Buffalo's. Therefore, the Chiefs defense will need to bring the heat even more, come February seventh. The Chiefs defense can follow this same recipe for success against the Buccaneers.

We all know Tom Brady is not very mobile at all, actually. While he may be in the best shape of his life and playing the best he's played, I would love to see him run from Chris Jones.

The Tampa Bay Offensive line is a little better than the Bills but could have issues dealing with Jones and company. Knowing what we know about the Buccaneers, they love to run pass plays.

They can run the ball if you let them. However, the pass play will be one they go to most. If Kansas City can give Brady less time in the pocket, it's a recipe for disaster.
