The Tennessee Titans fell to the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. They were massively short handed once again due to injuries.
That being said, they performed better than expectations against one of the top teams in the NFC.
It was a close game for about three and a half quarters. Veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs played a fairly clean game for the Titans, but the running game never got off the ground without Derrick Henry.
The star running back will be back for the regular season finale next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Where do the Titans go at QB to try to secure a playoff spot next week, though?
Former NFL journeyman and Titans QB Ryan Fitzpatrick thinks that the choice is clear.
Fitzpatrick believes that the Titans must continue to roll with Cobbs over rookie QB Malik Willis. He is correct, too.
Dobbs played better against Dallas than any appearance by Willis from this season.
That doesn't mean that Willis can't be the starter for the long-term future, but Dobbs' veteran presence gives the Titans their best chance to win right now. You can just trust him more than Willis at the moment, and Tennessee must take care of the football versus the Jags.
The Jags' offense has been explosive over the past handful of weeks. Accordingly, the Titans cannot afford to give them extra possessions.
For right now, the former Tennessee Vols quarterback is the best option that the Titans have to secure a playoff spot this season. Imagine telling that to a Titans fan before this year started.
