The Cincinnati Bengals made a decision in the 2022 NFL Draft that looks brilliant after Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Cincy drafted defensive tackle Zach Carter in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft (No. 95 overall) with the hopes that he can provide the Bengals with an effective pass rush up the middle.

And based on what we saw Saturday evening, the Bengals made a great decision to select Carter in the third round.

Carter, who is set to back up BJ Hill, looked like a player against the Rams who can immediately help Cincinnati in 2022. The former Florida Gators standout forced a fumble on a strip-sack, making Rams guard Chandler Brewer look silly in the process.

Every team wants to hit on a player in the third round, but few usually do.

The Bengals, however, identified Carter as a player that could help them along the defensive line. And so far, he's doing exactly what Cincinnati drafted him to do.

I can't imagine there's a better feeling for a general manager than seeing a third-round draft immediately contribute for a team.

The Bengals' offense gets all the attention, but the defense looks like it's going to be elite this season, too.

In fact, Cincy quarterback Joe Burrow told reporters this past week that he thinks the Bengals' defense is going to be "really, really good" in 2022.

Will a great defense and a great offense result in a return to the Super Bowl for Cincinnati?

It certainly feels like that could be the case this season.
