The atmosphere at Paycor Stadium on Thursday night for the Cincinnati Bengals' 27-15 win over the Miami Dolphins was incredible.
In fact, it was almost too incredible.
The game between Cincinnati and Miami felt like a playoff atmosphere. And it got so loud after a turnover at one point that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow nearly had to go to a silent count.
“Anytime you play a night game at home, the energy is different," said Burrow after the game. "Playoff games get pretty intense but the energy was exciting. We fed off the fans.”
“I almost had to go to a silence cadence for a second," noted Burrow. "They were fired up after those turnovers, that’s for sure.”
Bengals fans haven't had a lot to cheer for prior to last season, but Burrow has helped turned Cincinnati into one of the "it cities" in the NFL.
The fans are only going to get louder and crazier as the Bengals continue their march to the playoffs.
But they should probably chill out a bit when Cincinnati has the ball. The last thing the Bengals need is a false start or delay of game penalty during a pivotal moment in a game because their own fans were being too loud.
Of course, loud fans are a good problem to have. It's almost always a sign that a team is playing at a high level.
And the Bengals certainly showed they're playing at a high level on Thursday night by knocking off the previously undefeated Dolphins.
