The Tennessee Titans have put themselves in quite the predicament.

Now, it isn't all their fault. They could not control the debilitating injuries that they have suffered this season.

Regardless, their current five-game losing streak is inexcusable.

You simply cannot do that when you had such a large division lead like they did just a month ago. That has evaporated, and their entire season comes down to one game.

That game is not this week, though.

The Titans face the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night this week. That game won't affect Tennessee's playoff outlook.

Week 18's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars is basically all that matters for the Titans now. That begs one question for the Titans.

Should Tennessee rest some starters this week against Dallas to avoid injuries?

There isn't a correct answer here.

Folks will disagree all the way up until kickoff on Thursday. Their disagreement may even last until the outcome of the Titans' game with the Jags.

The Titans should be careful with their players that are the most banged-up. If a player is truly questionable for this week's matchup, be even more careful with him than you normally would be on a normal week.

That being said, do not simply bench your best starters to prevent injury.

The rust would cost the Titans in Week 18 versus the Jaguars. The Titans cannot afford that, considering that game will decide the division.

There is also minimal benefit to resting starters during the regular season, according to the history of it in the NFL. Teams normally don't gain any advantage from resting players that they don't need to rest.

The Titans' offensive needs as many reps as possible together. It is likely that Ryan Tannehill won't return as their starter for Week 18, so Malik Willis, the offensive line, and his receivers need time.

Playing time against an impressive Cowboys' defense could help them for their pivotal matchup against the Jaguars to decide the AFC South.
