The Tennessee Titans are making a bit of a surprise move this week.
According to reports, the team is releasing veteran linebacker Ola Adeniyi. Adeniyi has been a solid depth piece for the Titans' rushing unit on defense, but they are moving on from him.
Adeniyi spent the first three years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has played for the Titans since the start of last season. In 19 games with the Titans, he recorded 2.5 sacks and 24 tackles.
The move is a bit shocking as the Titans are coming off of a rough defensive performance against the Jaguars. The defensive line depth isn't at its peak due to multiple injuries.
That being said, this move opens up the door for other talent, including a young player. The Titans clearly believe in players like Rashad Weaver and Tarell Basham. It sounds like they think that they will step up with more opportunities.
Denico Autry will also get more playing time when healthy after this move most likely. He's been an underrated piece for the Titans' defense.
Tennessee's defense is looking for answers, so more moves like this one could be on the horizon.
