There's growing optimism that Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry could return to the field next month.
ESPN's Dianna Russini discussed Henry's potential return in January on Thursday during an appearance on The Buck Reising Show on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville.
Russini noted that no one doubts Henry's desire to return to get back on the field.
"If there is any player who is on IR right now who has the potential to get back sooner, it's Derrick Henry," said Russini.
"The doctors and medical professionals are all saying that this type of injury takes six to eight weeks and you do the math and it makes sense that it falls in January. I think this organization feels it's going to be on the early side of that rather than the later."
Reising also noted that he's not gaslighting Titans fans — the optimism surrounding Henry's return is legitimate.
Henry has been out since week eight when he suffered a Jones fracture in the Titans' win against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Titans (8-4) are 2-2 during Henry's absence.
