2023 five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava, a Tennessee Vols commit, looked like a future SEC superstar on Friday night.
Iamaleava led Warren High School to a 49-22 win over Downey on Friday night while throwing for 249 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception.
This throw, specifically, looked like something we've seen numerous times over the last two seasons from current Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker.
I'd say Iamaleava is a perfect fit in Josh Heupel's offense after seeing that impressive downfield throw.
Here's another impressive deep throw that Iamaleava made on Friday night.
Iamaleava didn't just show off his arm on Friday night, he also showed off his toughness. The matchup with Downey, a huge rival for Warren, was a chippy affair.
At one point, Nico was down and required attention, but he stayed in the game.
"We knew the game was going to be chippy," said Iamaleava after the game. "Our mindset was to just keep playing and don't do any dirty stuff."
The future Vol is everything you could want in a quarterback commit. Iamaleava is physically talented, smart, accurate, and tough. He's also an incredible teammate and a great leader who has remained extremely humble despite being thrust into the spotlight amid a very public recruitment.
I'd say Tennessee's in good shape at the quarterback position.
