The Tennessee Vols lost a talented young defender to the NCAA transfer portal on Monday according to multiple reports.

Jordan Phillips, a true freshman in 2022, is looking for a new home after entering the portal on Monday.

Phillips, a former three-star recruit from Ocoee, FL who signed with UT during the 2022 recruiting cycle, played in three games for the Vols this past season and totaled just one tackle.

The Florida native has good size and could certainly have been a useful depth player in 2023 with the potential to earn a bigger role.

It'll be interesting to see if Phillips heads to USF to join former Vols offensive coordinator Alex Golesh who recently took over as the Bulls' head coach.

Losing Phillips won't have a major impact on Tennessee in 2023 outside of hurting the Vols' depth along the defensive line.
