The Tennessee Vols seemingly strengthened their NCAA Tournament resumé on Saturday with a 67-62 win over the No. 4 ranked Auburn Tigers.
But will the selection committee even care?
If they think like CBS Sports' Jerry Palm, they won't.
Palm, one of the most popular "bracketology experts" in the business, updated his NCAA Tournament bracket projection on Sunday morning after a wild Saturday of college basketball that saw the top six teams in the nation lose.
Despite Auburn's loss to the Vols, Palm still has the Tigers as a No. 1 seed in his bracket.
That's somewhat understandable. All the other top teams, except for Duke, lost on Saturday, which mitigated the damage to Auburn's resumé.

What doesn't make sense is that Palm has the Volunteers as a No. 4 seed (for reference, ESPN's Joe Lunardi had Tennessee as a No. 3 seed before UT's win against Auburn).
In Palm's latest update, the Vols would take on Townson in the first round of the tournament in the South region.
I don't understand how Palm could have Tennessee as a No. 4 seed when they have two wins over teams that are No. 1 seeds in his bracket (Arizona and Auburn).
If the Vols win out (against Georgia and Arkansas) and have a decent showing in the SEC Tournament, I think they should have an outside shot at a No. 2 seed. At the worst, they should be a No. 3 seed.
Tennessee doesn't have any bad losses. They're undefeated at home. And they have some impressive wins. What's not to like about that tournament resumé?
The Vols getting disrespected by the national media is nothing new. In fact, fans should be accustomed to it by now. But that still doesn't explain why folks like Palm enjoy discounting what Tennessee has accomplished this season.
