Even if it involves his little brother.
Eli Manning announced his retirement this week and Peyton, unsurprisingly, was asked his thoughts by DenverBroncos.com.
The older Manning used the interview as an opportunity to make a tremendous joke at Eli's expense.
I'm happy for Eli, because I know he's at peace and he put a lot of time and thought into this decision. But I am sad, because I won't get to see him play anymore. And after my dad and Dan Marino, Eli really was my favorite player. So I have to find a new one.
I assume Manning was joking, at least. Then again, maybe he really did like Dan Marino better than Eli.
On a more serious note, Peyton discussed Eli's Hall of Fame candidacy, saying that his little brother deserves enshrinement because he was a two-time Super Bowl MVP.
We have a while before the Eli Manning to the Hall of Fame debate gets serious (five more years), so we can let that one simmer for a bit.
Maybe by then, Peyton will have found a new favorite quarterback. I hear there's a five-star that goes by the name Harrison Bailey in Knoxville.
Just sayin.
