For the Tennessee Vols to be relevant in the SEC, they need to own their home state and they need to own North Carolina.

Tennessee's been hard at work on owning the Volunteer state since Jeremy Pruitt's arrival in late 2017.

And now they're trying to conquer central North Carolina.

The Vols recently made 2021 five-star defensive tackle Payton Page's top 5 (he's from Greensboro, NC).

And now they're in a good spot to land 2021 three-star linebacker Raneiria Dillworth, who was just recently offered by Tennessee.

The Kernersville, NC native visited UT this past weekend and told VolQuest the visit "surprised him" (that's why it's so important for the Vols to get recruits on campus).

Dillworth told VolQuest that he's going to take some other visits in the coming weeks, but mentioned that Tennessee is "in a good position".

The 6-foot-2/184 lb linebacker is rated by 247Sports' as the No. 22 player in the state of North Carolina. Dillworth said he plans to return to Tennessee "soon".

If Tennessee can land a few players from North Carolina, it could develop into an important pipeline that could help fuel the program's success for years to come.

Recruiting the state of Tennessee and western Georgia is UT's top priority, but becoming a major factor in North Carolina should be a close second.
