Earlier this month, the biggest concern in Knoxville was whether or not the Tennessee Vols would be able to keep baseball coach Tony Vitello.

Those concerns were amplified when the Texas A&M and LSU jobs opened.

A few weeks later, however, and I think it's safe to say there's no reason for Vol fans to be concerned that Vitello will leave Rocky Top.

For starters, Texas A&M ended up hiring TCU's Jim Schlossnagle. And LSU appears to be leaning in a different direction.

But even if those programs would've strongly pursued Vitello, I still don't think the fourth-year head coach would've left UT.

Vitello has everything he wants at Tennessee. And I think we saw this weekend how happy Vitello is at UT.

The atmosphere on campus on Saturday for the Vols' matchup against LSU was simply incredible, which is what Vitello wants more than anything (well that and facility upgrades, which he's working on with UT athletic director Danny White).

Vitello wants to be at a program that's invested in baseball. He wants to be at a program that has unbelievable fan support. And he wants to be somewhere that can win it all.

He has all of that at Tennessee. And it certainly appears that he doesn't want to be anywhere else.

There's zero reason for Vitello to leave Tennessee. The Volunteers baseball program may not be as storied as LSU or Texas A&M, but it's clear that Tennessee can be among the upper echelon of baseball programs on an annual basis.

Vitello has everything he needs at Tennessee. That's why I feel confident that we're about to see him settle in as the Vols' head coach for a very long time.
