2023 four-star edge rusher Rico Walker is set to visit the Tennessee Vols this weekend.

Walker, 6-foot-3/233 lbs from Hickory, NC (the same hometown as UT basketball coach Rick Barnes), is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 12 edge rusher in the country and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina. He's also rated as the No. 162 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.

Tennessee's coaches have received attention for their offensive recruiting prowess as of late. But it's just as important to add elite defenders. Walker can effectively get after the quarterback and that's a necessary ingredient to winning in the SEC.

The North Carolina native isn't the only big-time recruit who will be in Knoxville this weekend.

Five-star Vols commit Nico Iamaleava is in town for a 7-on-7 tournament and he'll also visit Tennessee again. Iamaleava's presence on Rocky Top this weekend coincides with visits from four-star wide receiver Kyler Kasper and five-star wide receiver Carnell Tate.

There will be a lot of future SEC talent in Knoxville this weekend. These are the types of players the Vols have to land if they're going to compete with Alabama and Georgia in the SEC.
