Tennessee season ticket holders will be happy with Danny White’s latest social media post
The Vols’ AD had an encouraging response about the program’s future scheduling.
The Tennessee Volunteers, along with the rest of the SEC, will find themselves facing off against Power Four non-conference opponents each year moving forward. That’s a conference requirement that went into effect last year when it was determined the SEC would expand from eight to nine conference games.
As such, Tennessee has been working to fill out its schedule for years down the road, and fans are hoping that athletic director Danny White will set up those games on campus rather than at neutral sites.
One fan tweeted that request at White, along with the additional request that the Vols play their Power Four non-conference game at home the year that they only have four home SEC games (SEC teams will rotate five and four home games every other year). That way there would be at least five Power Four home games each year.
White responded to the fan that that’s his scheduling plan.

Tennessee has played a number of non-conference games away from Neyland Stadium in recent years, although not necessarily as part of a home-and-home basis.
Tennessee faced Virginia and NC State in Nashville and Charlotte in 2023 and 2024, respectively, in September of each of those seasons. Last year, the Vols opened up their 2025 season with a 45-26 win against the Syracuse Orange in Atlanta. Before 2023, Tennessee hadn’t played a non-conference neutral site game since facing West Virginia in Charlotte in 2018.
Speaking of the Mountaineers, the Vols have one pending non-conference neutral site game remaining on their future schedule, and that’s again against West Virginia in Charlotte in 2028.
But Tennessee appears to have the 2027 and 2029 seasons on line to match White’s plan. The Vols host Georgia Tech in 2027 and the Washington Huskies in 2029 before a return trip to Washington in 2030. The Vols will have four SEC home games in 2027 and 2029, as they have five in 2026.
With the excitement that games bring inside Neyland Stadium, the high cost of season tickets, and the need to get every edge possible in the chase for the playoff, it makes sense to try to get as many games on campus as possible. Now, we’ll see if White can pull off his logical plan in future years.
