Athlon Sports recently revealed their pre-season All-SEC teams and they included five Tennessee Vols among their selections.

Velus Jones Jr., Cade Mays, Paxton Brooks, Jalin Hyatt, and Matthew Butler were the UT players named as All-SEC selections by Athlon Sports.

Hyatt, a sophomore wide receiver, is an interesting selection.

The South Carolina native put up modest numbers as a true freshman in 2020, catching 20 passes for 276 yards and two touchdowns.

Those aren't overly impressive numbers on the surface. But when you consider that Hyatt was playing in an offense that was handicapped by previous head coach Jeremy Pruitt, it makes those numbers look a bit better.

Moving forward, the former four-star recruit should thrive in Knoxville.

Hyatt is essentially a perfect fit in new Vols head coach Josh Heupel's offense. He runs in the 4.2 to 4.3 range in the 40-yard dash, which is obviously elite speed. Heupel will use Hyatt to stretch the field and challenge defenses vertically.

In 2020, Hyatt averaged 13.8 yards per reception (second on the team behind Josh Palmer, who is now in the NFL).

UCF had five players average 13.7 yards per reception or more in 2020 under Heupel.

In other words, Heupel knows how to use speed.

And he'll have plenty of it with Hyatt and senior Velus Jones Jr.

That's why I think we could see Hyatt end up having a huge breakout season for Tennessee in 2021.

The cupboard isn't completely bare for Heupel on Rocky Top. The offense has the talent to be dangerous.

If Tennessee's defense can perform at an "average" level, we could certainly see the Vols win some games they aren't expected to win.
