The winds of change are slowly starting to affect the SEC.

While I don't think Alabama's dominance is going to totally fade anytime soon, the Tennessee Vols are gradually closing the gap between the two programs.

It's a marathon after all, not a sprint.

In order for Tennessee to be able to compete with Alabama, the Vols will have to start landing some top recruits over the Crimson Tide.

Thanks to staff shuffling/departures, it looks like the Vols stand a good chance of landing four-star 2019 linebacker Henry To-oto-o over Alabama.

Tennessee's had a good relationship with To-oto-o for a while now, thanks to the stellar recruiting prowess of Brian Niedermeyer (who has become the Vols' secret weapon since joining the staff last December). But the Volunteers should stand an even better chance of landing the California native after Alabama's Tosh Lupoi, To-oto-o's primary recruiter in Tuscaloosa, resigned as the Tide's defensive coordinator to join Freddie Kitchens' staff with the Cleveland Browns.

Former Vol Kevin Simon, who works in player development for Tennessee, is also a big part of To-oto-o's recruitment. Simon attended the same high school that To-oto-o currently attends (De La Salle).

Obviously you can't rule out Alabama just because Lupoi left the staff, because they're still Alabama. But this obviously helps Tennessee's chances with To-oto-o a ton.

In fact, I think the Vols are now the favorites to land the stud linebacker.

To-oto-o, by the way, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 6 player in the state of California and the No. 44 overall player in the country.
