Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers have completed an undefeated preseason it's time to get their roster together for the 2022 season. After getting their initial 53-man list completed before this past Tuesday's deadline, the Steelers have made some additional moves.

One of them was an expected one. Rookie wide receiver, Calvin Austin, was placed on injured reserve due to a foot injury that keep him out for the entire preseason. Also, safety Damontae Kazee, who signed a one-year deal back in May after spending last season with the Cowboys, is joining Austin after suffering a wrist injury in the Steelers' preseason finale against the Detroit Lions which will require surgery.

Austin and Kazee will miss are least the Steelers' first four games as a result. In correspondence to this, the Steelers signed linebacker Marcus Allen and offensive lineman Trent Scott to their revamped 53-man roster.

Austin was going to have to fight for playing time as a rookie with Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool, and second-round pick George Pickens being on the team. Luckily for Austin ad the Steelers this setback has happened now so that the promising rookie can get back on the field and fine-tune his game, and hopefully get a chance to use his 4.32 speed to stretch defenses.

Kazee was set to appear in sub packages for the Steelers' defense this season. The aforementioned Allen's experience playing with linebacker and safety may have him filling that role for the time being.
