The New Orleans Saints may have a breakout player on their hands. Wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed just broke onto the scene with a dazzling run in today’s game for the Saints.
As a former trackstar, Shaheed provides exciting athleticism that few others can in the NFL.
For another player, that could cost him his roster spot. Deonte Harty has been the returner for New Orleans for years now, and he has shown flashes of greatness.
Unfortunately, fumbles and injured have plagued him over the past couple of seasons.
That has opened up a bigger opportunity for Shaheed.
The Saints need explosive plays on offense and special teams. It looks like he could be a vital option for that. With all of their injuries at WR, they need guys to step up. Shaheed is doing that for the Saints.
It will be interesting to see how the Saints handle receiver depth and the returner position once Harty returns.
