Latest Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara injury updates put Saints offense in a great spot heading into key Giants game
The Saints are looking to snap a three-game losing streak on the road against the Giants and they’ll need all hands on deck in order to do so. That’s why the latest news involving Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara is encouraging.
The New Orleans Saints have to find a way to get back into the win column in Week 6 and the next matchup is an upstart New York Giants team that is currently leading the NFC East at 3-1-1.
Fortunately, two stars will be in the mix: Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara are expected to play on Sunday. Olave has been dealing with an unspecified illness that caused him to miss both Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions. He was upgraded to limited on Friday before finishing as questionable on the final injury report.
Kamara continues to deal with the back injury he suffered in Week 4. He was limited all week long and was questionable on Friday’s final injury report.
Having Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara on the field is obviously a big boon for the Saints offense and will go a long way in helping them break their losing streak.
It remains to be seen if defensive lineman Nathan Shepherd and cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr. play in Week 6. Both players were listed as questionable on the Saints’ final injury report.
Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara’s availability balances out the Giants’ big injury news
The Saints aren’t the only team with good injury news to start Sunday morning, as the Giants are expecting a couple of their own stars to play.
Rapoport also reported second-year pass rusher Abdul Carter and former All-Pro tackle Andrew Thomas should be on the field in their normal capacity. Carter didn’t practice on Wednesday and Thursday because of a calf injury, but turned in a limited session on Friday before being listed as questionable. Thomas followed the exact same pattern throughout the week, but has been dealing with a groin injury opposed to Carter’s calf situation.
That’s a big boost on the Giants’ end of the spectrum and it makes Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara’s updates even more important. We’ll see if the offensive playmakers can move the needle enough for the Saints to find a win in the Big Apple.
