The Green Bay Packers had high hopes for Sammy Watkins entering 2022 and things had been going pretty well through the first couple of weeks.

But the relationship hit a bit of bump Saturday when the Packers announced the decision to place Watkins on IR.

Watkins was ruled of this weekend's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Friday with a hamstring injury, but it's now obvious the injury is going to take quite some time to heal up.

Short-term IR requires a player to miss at least four games. If everything goes well with Watkins' hammy, then he could return by the time the Packers play the Washington Commanders on October 23.

The former first-rounder has six receptions for 111-yards on seven targets so far with Green Bay.
