A report surfaced this week that suggested the Kansas City Chiefs are "frustrated" with offensive lineman Orlando Brown Jr and his contract situation.

The Chiefs want to see the talented offensive tackle stick around in Kansas City for the long haul, but the two sides weren't able to come to an agreement before the deadline passed earlier this month (KC placed the franchise tag on Brown earlier this spring, which he hasn't signed yet).

From KansasCity.com:

“There was frustration and there was disappointment,” Chadiha said. “They really like Orlando Brown Jr., they love having him be a part of this team, but the money he was asking for was too high for them. They feel like they don’t want to not have stability at left tackle here, but they also don’t want to pay top-of-the-market money for a player that they don’t think is the best player at his position in the NFL. “One front office person said, ‘This isn’t the same guy that we traded for.’ The feeling there is that when they got him from Baltimore is that he was going to be a team player and work with them on a team-friendly type of deal. That was not the case. Right now we’re looking at a situation where Orlando Brown probably won’t be there for training camp and may not be there for Week 1.”

On Friday, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked how he feels about Brown as a teammate.

And Mahomes didn't hold back on his thoughts.

"He's a great team player," said Mahomes. "He's one of the smartest football players I think I've ever played with. He has a high IQ. Even when he wasn't at OTAs, he was asking me questions. He's watching the film. He's doing everything to make sure that when he steps here, he's ready to go."

"You ask anyone on this team, he's one of the best guys on this team, if not the best one," added Mahomes.

I'd say it's pretty clear where Mahomes stands. It's unfortunate that Brown and the Chiefs weren't able to work out a deal. But the two sides will have another chance next offseason to get something done.
