Tuesday is not a fun day if you're not a vetted starter in the NFL. Or even a quality backup.

Hundreds of bubble players will be introduced to a new chapter of adversity by 4 p.m ET on August 30. Said players aren't archetypes, either. They can range from former Pro Bowlers to undrafted rookies. If they haven't performed up to expected standards, there's a great chance they will be looking for a new team, soon.

The Kansas City Chiefs made their own tough decision with former first-round pick Danny Shelton on Tuesday. Shelton couldn't do enough to make the team after joining Steve Spagnuolo's squad on August 15.

ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report the news.

It's unfortunate for Shelton, who is slated to enter his eighth year in the NFL. The hope was he could provide some quality snaps via the Chiefs' defensive line rotation. On the surface, he's a perfect complement to Chris Jones, but it's obvious things didn't work out for whatever reason(s).

The Chiefs also released former All-Pro wideout Josh Gordon along with former Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Taylor Stallworth Tuesday morning. Gordon's release was pretty much expected, but Stallworth's is a bit surprising, especially when adding in Shelton's release.
