The New Orleans Saints were bounced from the NFL playoffs on Sunday, but ESPN's Mike Greenberg (commonly known as "Greeny") believes former Tennessee Vols running back Alvin Kamara was the best player on the field.

That's saying a lot, considering Kamara was sharing the field with Drew Brees, Michael Thomas and Todd Gurley.

Greenberg's praise didn't stop there. He also believes Kamara was the best running back in the NFL in 2018.

From a pure running back standpoint, it would be hard to put Kamara above Todd Gurley or Saquon Barkley. But Kamara is much more than just a running back. He's a dynamic playmaker that is nearly impossible to defend. In his first two seasons in the NFL, Kamara has amassed 3,146 total yards and 31 touchdowns (plus a kick return touchdown as a rookie). Those are some historically great numbers (he's only the fourth player to have 500 yards rushing and receiving in his first two seasons in the NFL).

Kamara combines his excellence on the field with a unique personality off the field. He recently appeared in a commercial for a friend's garbage collection company. He refused to take any payment for appearing in the ads.

Trying to decide who the best running back in the NFL is in today's game is nearly impossible. It's a very subjective debate. But there's no doubt that Kamara is among the top players in the NFL, and he's squarely in the middle of the best running back debate.

The crazy thing is that Kamara is still only 23, so there's no telling what kind of numbers he'll put up in the coming years.
