2021 four-star linebacker Jeremiah Williams revealed his top eight schools on Tuesday and the Tennessee Vols were included.
Williams, 6-foot-3/224 lbs from Birmingham, AL, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 5 player in the state of Alabama and the No. 6 weak side defensive end in the nation.
The Alabama native also included Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Nebraska and Oklahoma in his top eight.
While it appears that Tennessee has some stiff competition for Williams, the Vols might actually be in a good spot to land the talented linebacker.
Williams told Rivals that Tennessee is the program that's recruiting him the hardest, saying "Tennessee is recruiting me hardest. I can't tell you how many times they call, Face-time and text me."
The dynamic four-star recruit added "They are different and they are really coming at me hardest right now".
Williams pointed out that one of the things that's most important to him is early playing time. And UT's coaches are one of the programs telling him he could have an opportunity to play early.
"Tennessee is telling me they could use me anywhere on their defense. They want to move me around and they tell me I could start as a freshman", said Williams to Rivals.
If Williams is set on wanting to play early, then UT could be his best bet from the list of schools in his top eight.
For now, there's no timetable for Williams' decision.
"When I feel I am ready, I will commit", explained Williams.
Williams plans to sign during the early signing period in December.
