The Tennessee Titans are bringing in quarterback depth as an insurance policy for Ryan Tannehill's ankle. The Titans have agreed to a contract with former Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Josh Dobbs.
Dobbs has spent a majority of the 2022 season with the Cleveland Browns, where he broke camp on the 53-man roster as the backup quarterback behind Jacoby Brissett. Dobbs was waived by the team on November 28th when Deshaun Watson returned from his suspension.
Since being waived by Cleveland, Dobbs spent time as a member of the Detroit Lions practice squad before finding his way back to Tennessee on the Titans 53-man roster.
Dobbs played in 37 games during his time at the University of Tennessee, including back-to-back 9-4 seasons with him at the helm. 18 wins with Dobbs at QB were the most for the school over a two-year span since 2006–2007.

The Titans' signing of Dobbs comes on the heels of QB Ryan Tannehill reinjuring his right ankle on Sunday in Los Angeles. Tannehill was able to finish the game against the Chargers, but his status for Saturday during a short week remains up in the air.
Tennessee did sign QB Kevin Hogan to their practice squad last week, but the assumption here would be that Dobbs serves as the backup to rookie QB Malik Willis if Tannehill is unable to go against the Texans on Saturday.
