There might be a shutdown across sports right now, but that isn't stopping Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt from doing work.
On Monday, the Vols landed a commitment from 2021 three-star running back Jaylen Wright.
Wright, 5-foot-11/187 lbs from Durham, NC, isn't a highly rated recruit (247Sports rates him as the No. 88 running back in the nation), but he's incredibly fast.
The North Carolina native, who also has offers from Arizona State, Miami, Rutgers and Syracuse, reportedly has the fastest 60 meter time (6.72 seconds) in the Tar Heel state (via Rocky Top Insider).
You can't teach speed. And it's clear the Vols are looking for some fast players to feature in their offense.
The dynamic running back told VolQuest that he knew after visiting Knoxville that Tennessee was the right place for him, saying "They showed a lot of love and made me feel welcome and it just felt like the place that I needed to be". Wright added "Coach Graham made my mom love it and she wasn't even there. Everyone was on board and that's why I knew Tennessee was the right place."
Wright wasn't the only player Tennessee landed on Monday.
Philadelphia linebacker Isaiah Gaddy tweeted his commitment to the Vols on Monday, too.
Gaddy, who isn't rated in 247Sports' composite rankings, is listed as a 2020 prospect. It's unclear if he will be a walk-on, or when he will enroll at Tennessee.
