The New Orleans Saints are one of the more difficult teams to project this season. Some folks believes that they will tread water to 8 or 9 wins. Others think that the Saints could win the division with 11 or 12 victories. Former NFL defender and current NFL analyst Bart Scott has a strong belief in the Saints' quarterback, Jameis Winston.
Now, Scott acknowledges that this pick is a bit of a long shot. The Saints QB would have to outduel other NFC quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, etc. in order to win MVP.
He has the upside to accomplish it, but he would have to play with the best decision-making of his career. Additionally, his WR core is much better this season with the Saints. throwing to Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Jarvis Landry could make a big difference for Winston and the offense for the Saints.
Fellow analyst Stephen A. Smith laughed at Scott, but Scott wasn't too phased by it. He shouldn't be, either. Scott also mentions that Winston could lead the league in passing yards this year with the Saints, and he has put up impressive yardage numbers before.
If you're a betting person, Winston certainly isn't the safest bet. That being said, one former NFL player thinks that he could have a special season for the Saints.
