The Kansas City Chiefs could use another wide receiver after trading six-time Pro-Bowler Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday.

Kansas City appears to be looking to make a trade to replace Hill. The Chiefs have reportedly asked the Seattle Seahawks about wide receivers Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf. It's unclear if those talks will advance past an inquiry.

Another wide receiver the Chiefs are reportedly interested in trading for is Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Laviska Shenault, a former second-round pick out of Colorado.

That would be an interesting addition for Kansas City.

Shenault is a high-upside wide receiver that's put up decent numbers during his first two years in the NFL despite not playing in a great situation.

The former Colorado standout has 121 receptions for 1,219 yards and five touchdowns through his first two seasons in the NFL.

Back in 2020, there were some folks who thought Shenault could be a first-round pick in the draft. Injury concerns, however, led to Shenault falling to the second round.

From Walter Football:

Shenault has quickness and shows a second gear when he gets into the open field. In the pros, he won't be a speed demon of a wide receiver who generates big separation from NFL cornerbacks, but he has some speed to make him dangerous and not limit him to being just a possession receiver. Shenault is pretty polished wideout who he runs good routes, tracks the ball well, has good body control, is a hands catcher, and has strong hands to make contested catches. He has the versatility to be a possessional wideout or challenge teams along the deep sideline.

Shenault is worthy of being a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. If he can stay healthy in the NFL, he has the potential to be a No. 1 receiver. With his size, quickness, route-running, and run-after-the-catch skills, he would be a great fit in a West Coast offense.

Shenault has played in 30 games out of a possible 33 games during his first two seasons with the Jaguars. Those injury concerns were clearly blown out of proportion a bit.

If the Chiefs traded for Shenault, he wouldn't really be a replacement for Hill. Shenault doesn't have game-changing speed like Hill. But he's a tough wide receiver who excels in the open field and picks up crucial yards after the catch. He could be a new kind of weapon for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Kansas City has to adapt moving forward. Hill was a one-of-a-kind player. But the good news is that Andy Reid has been making offensive adjustments in the NFL for the last 25 years. The Chiefs will be just fine, regardless of what moves they make the rest of the 2022 offseason.
