Kansas City Chiefs Free Agency,

As the legal tampering period kicks off this Monday, the Chiefs can get an early start on the many tasks they have at hand for this offseason. There are several holes to fill in the offseason, and the Chiefs can do that through the draft, or they can do that through free agency.

Obviously, the free agency period comes first, so it is higher on the list, for now. The Chiefs have entered into this period in some trouble. They have yet to re-sign Tyrann Mathieu, who is now considered a free agent. Plus, they are currently $6 million over the cap

While we don't know exactly what will happen, we can predict what happens for the chiefs over the next few weeks. Here are a few of those predictions:

3. Chiefs re-sign Tyrann Mathieu

This should and may be the Chief's main priority over the next few days. Tyrann Mathieu has been a vital part of this team. After Patrick Mahomes, many people can argue that he has been the most impactful on this team.

Mathieu may be the reason the Chiefs finally got over the hump, and hopefully, Brett Veach realizes what needs to be done. Without Mathieu on the Chiefs defense, it is possible Kansas City falls back into their 2018 form.

The Chiefs will re-sign Mathieu and stretch some other contracts in order to move some money around to where they don't have to account for it until later.

2. Target Jarvis Landry

As of recently, the Pro Bowl receiver was released by the Cleveland Browns after the two sides couldn't agree on his role and position on the team. It just so happens that the Chiefs need another receiver.

Per Ian Rapoport, the Bills and Chiefs are two teams to watch in the Jarvis Landry signing.

If the Chiefs can bring in another receiver with a skill set such as Landry's, it will take the passing game to the next level.

The Chiefs should offer Landry a 1-2 year deal, depending on whichever seems more suitable for Landry. The deal should be worth anywhere from $6-10 million per year, as well.

1. Re-sign Melvin Ingram

The former Los Angeles Chargers/Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker was the piece that turned this Chiefs defense around last year. While his stats weren't amazing, you could see the difference in the eye test.

Melvin Ingram will want a bit more money than he was paid last year, and that is fine. This is a guy who had Kansas City's only sack in the AFC Championship game. With Frank Clark potentially gone, the Chiefs will need Ingram.

As a result, the Chiefs will offer Ingram a three-year deal worth up to $20 million.

In the next few weeks, a few different things can happen. Either the free agency period will be exciting with a big-name signing. Or, however, this period will be very boring for the Chiefs as they get ready for the draft.
