The Kansas City Chiefs are going to be one of the top Super Bowl contenders in 2022 regardless of what moves they make or don't make this offseason.

There are still, however, several areas where the Chiefs could stand to make some improvements.

Those improvements should come from a mix of free agency and the 2022 NFL Draft.

On Monday, ESPN's Jordan Reid pointed out the three positions he could see the Chiefs targeting in this year's draft.

Reid noted that Kansas City could look to draft a wide receiver, edge rusher, or a defensive back.

From ESPN:

The Chiefs were in search of another starting wide receiver last offseason, and general manager Brett Veach could continue that trend this offseason. Edge rusher and defensive back are the team's biggest areas of concern. With both of those positions among the strongest in this draft class, the franchise will have multiple options.

The Chiefs have the No. 30 pick in the first round, which means they'll be in a "best player available" situation.

Fortunately for Kansas City, they should have several quality options.

Here are some of the players who could be available at that slot:

  • Kaiir Elam — Cornerback — Florida
  • Travon Walker — EDGE — Georgia
  • Trent McDuffie — Cornerback — Washington
  • Daxton Hill — Safety — Michigan
  • Drake London — WR — USC
  • Treylon Burks — WR — Arkansas
  • Jermaine Johnson — EDGE — Florida State
  • Cameron Thomas — EDGE — San Diego State
  • Drake Jackson — EDGE — USC
  • David Bell — WR — Purdue

Any of those options would be great selections by the Chiefs. Kansas City should leave the draft with a first-round pick that can immediately contribute in 2022, which could allow the team to spend a little more in free agency to upgrade another key position.
