ESPN draft expert Todd McShay made a 2022 NFL Draft suggestion for the Kansas City Chiefs this week that makes perfect sense.

McShay thinks the Chiefs should trade up to No. 17 in the draft (with the Los Angeles Chargers) so they can select Alabama wide receiver Jameson Williams.

Here's what McShay had to say:

This would be an absolutely perfect way to replace Tyreek Hill.

Williams is probably the best wide receiver in the draft and should be a top 10 selection. But he tore his ACL in January in Alabama's loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff championship game.

The Chiefs would likely have to start the 2022 season without Williams — it's unclear when he'll be ready to return to the field — but that would be a small price to pay for a dynamic wide receiver with game-changing speed.

There's some risk associated with taking Williams — he still has to prove he's an explosive player after his ACL injury. But I think the risk is worth the potentially massive payoff.

There's no such thing as a "safe pick", despite what some draft analysts would lead you to believe.

The Chiefs are in a spot where they can gamble a bit. If they miss on their first-round pick, it's not like it's going to set the franchise back a couple of years.
