There are few things in life that gets everyone talking.
Will Smith slapping the crap out of Chris Rock is one of them.
Sunday night's Oscars debacle was one of the wildest moments in the entire history of television. It all started when Rock made what he thought was an innocuous joke toward Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Pinkett Smith didn't like said joke and that's when Smith decided to hop on stage and set the tone with a five-fingered diss a la Dave Chappelle's version of Rick James.
For the record, Mr. Smith initially laughed at the joke, as you can see below:
Regardless, people are naturally debating whether or not Smith's assualt was real or fake.
Count former Packer great Charles Woodson as a member of Team Fake.
There are plenty of others that agree with Woodson. The sheer randomness and shock of the moment are the catalysts behind the doubt/disbelief and that's understandable. A moment like that is shocking enough when it happpens between two non-celebrities – let alone two celebrities of Smith's and Rock's statures.
Woodson wasn't the only Packers-involved player to publicly comment on the situation. Current Packers safety Adrian Amos tweeted out a little bit of advice before displaying his amusement with Sunday night's development.
Violence is never the answer, but there's nothing wrong with self defense and Amos' words ring true in that essence. You better know how to defend yourself, especially if you're joking about the wife of the guy who once played Muhammad Ali.
It's safe to say the Oscars haven't been talked about this much in years.
