What will the New England Patriots do with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft? Will they draft a quarterback or will they take a wide receiver?
Oh and of course will they keep it or trade it away?
According to A to Z Sports' NFL analyst Destin Adams in his latest mock draft ahead of the NFL Scouting Combine, the Patriots will trade it away.
Adams has the Patriots sending the third pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for their eighth overall pick, their third round pick this year, along with their first round pick next year.
"This is a first for me, but I have the Patriots trading the third pick to the Falcons. I think QBs going 1-2-3 is the most likely scenario to happen at this point, and with Williams and Maye coming off the board with the top two picks, I think the Patriots could go the veteran route at QB and acquire a future first to move back just five spots. The Falcons have a ton of talent on offense but are missing the most important element: the QB. I have heard they will be aggressive in acquiring a QB this offseason. And I have them doing just that to grab the reigning Heisman winner, Jayden Daniels, out of LSU," Adams wrote.
This is a controversial take ahead of the draft for a team that desperately needs a quarterback. And what makes it harder is the Falcons end up taking Jayden Daniels with that pick.
As for the Patriots, Adams has them taking Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze.
"After trading back five spots, the Patriots landed an extra first-round pick for next season, and they still landed one of the top players in this class in Washington WR Rome Odunze. Odunze will make a team and QB very happy at the pro level. The WR turns 50/50 balls into 70/30, and no matter who is the starting QB for New England, they have to add weapons this offseason, and Odunze would be their WR 1 immediately," Adams added.
Odunze's fourth season at Washington was clearly his best, with the receiver finishing with 92 receptions for 1,640 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns, along with two carries for 37 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
And his impressive season ended with a trip to the National Championship, where Washington ultimately fell to Michigan.
While trading down is a possibility for the Patriots, the desperate need for a quarterback need will make them seriously consider any offers and potentially keep the pick.
