Last season, the Las Vegas Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler. This allowed some people to step into roles they had never been in.
For example, Antonio Pierce had never even been a defensive coordinator in the NFL, let alone a head coach, but after being the interim head coach, he now finds himself as the full-time head coach for 2024 and beyond. Champ Kelly was promoted to interim general manager instead of assistant GM.
And, of course, the quarterbacks coach, Bo Hardegree, was promoted to interim offensive coordinator.
Now, every promotion in terms of interim status went well, except for Bo Hardegree. Now, that's not to say he can't be an offensive coordinator in the future, but he was stuck calling plays for someone else's system, and he just may not be ready.
When Pierce was hired full-time, it pretty much meant an entirely new offensive staff was in place, which included Bo Hardegree. The Raiders hired Luke Getsy as offensive coordinator, which means Hatrdegree was on to another team.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Titans are expected to hire Hardegree as their new QB coach to work with Will Levis and the crew.
You have to feel happy for such a young coach who was thrown into the fire last season.
