This past Sunday proved that nobody can touch Patrick Mahomes right now. The Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback is on a mission to match Tom Brady's legacy.
Brady is one of two quarterbacks to have beaten Mahomes in the playoffs. The other one is none other than Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow.
If anyone can get in Mahomes' way, many would say Burrow has the best chance. Former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Louis Riddick would agree.
In an appearance on the Stephen A. Smith Show, Riddick had his answered queued up to the question of who has the best chance of knocking off Mahomes and the Chiefs.
"There's one cat in the entire league who mentally can compete on par with Patrick and can raise the level of the people around him the same way Patrick can. That's Joe Burrow," Riddick said. "That's the only guy for me. The only guy."
Racking up three wins in four games against the Chiefs has done wonders for Burrow and the Bengals as a whole. It's become arguably biggest blemish on Mahomes' resume, while also having sparked a new mini-rivalry in the AFC.
The Bengals, obviously, have some catching up to do in order to be considered true equals to the Chiefs, but everyone knew how much beating Burrow was on Mahomes' mind before it actually happened.
"See Joe Burrow, just like Patrick is in everyone else's head, Joe Burrow was in Kansas City's head," Riddick said. "Okay, that's a fact. Cincy was driving this team crazy now. And when he comes back, he's really the one guy right now that is there with him."
In a time when quarterback talent is well distributed throughout the AFC, it's always refreshing to know that the Bengals have the guy whom most believe can best compete with the top dog.
