Cleveland Browns made a move after the end of their 2023 season to surprise some and that was letting offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt go.

Since then, the Browns have hired Ken Dorsey to be their next offensive coordinator. Van Pelt has landed with the New England Patriots to call the plays there and now it looks like he’s taking another former Browns coach.

T.C. McCartney was the tight ends coach in Cleveland in 2023, but the Browns decided to let him walk as well. It was one of multiple changes they made to the offensive coaching staff.

McCartney is heading to New England to be the quarterbacks coach for the Patriots. He held the same role with the Denver Broncos in 2019 before he joined Cleveland. The Patriots’ newest coach spent four seasons with the Browns and started as an offensive assistant in 2020, which was Kevin Stefanski’s first season as head coach.

There is a very good chance that the Patriots take a quarterback early and LSU QB Jayden Daniels very well could be the guy. If that’s the case, McCartney and Van Pelt will be important to his development.

The coaching cycle is a revolving door that sometimes moves quickly. That is the case here as the two coaches who lost their jobs with the Browns not too long ago have already landed on their feet.
