Well, it appears you can stop asking, Miami Dolphins fans. It isn't happening.
The Miami Dolphins held their big annual fundraiser on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium: the 14th annual Dolphins Cancer Challenge. As a result, Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel was present at the event and took the time to meet with the media and answer questions.
One that came up was about the team's throwback uniforms and if they will ever be adopted as the team's full-time uniform. The answer will disappoint many fans.
The answer flies in the face of what many fans – and even some players – want the team to do. The throwback uniforms have become immensely popular, not just among Dolphin fans, but among fans of other teams around the league who admit to the attractiveness and style of the modernized version of the Dolphins' classic look.
Even Dolphins legend Dan Marino admitted he likes the throwback uniforms. However, he revealed that Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is tired of hearing the question and likely won't agree to make them permanent, as the current uniforms are his "baby".
The Dolphins first introduced the throwback logo and uniforms during the 2015 season against the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Since, the Dolphins have worn them sporadically, and in recent years twice a year. It sounds like, per Garfinkel, the team wants to use them sparingly such that they basically remain a novelty.
For the large swath of fans that want their full-time adoption, that's just a shame.
