The Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be making a move that would be very attractive to a free agent of high interest to them.

The Bucs have reportedly requested an interview with Rams QB coach and passing game coordinator Zach Robinson for their vacant offensive coordinator position.

The Bucs' interest in Robinson is understandable.  He joined the Rams in 2019 as an assistant QB coach and was promoted to the passing game coordinator and QB coach in 2022 after the Rams claimed Super Bowl LVI.  The Rams' passing attack was potent this year with rookie Puka Nacua joining Cooper Kupp to create one of the league's best one-two punches.

However, Robinson is also familiar with Baker Mayfield, whom the Bucs should very much be trying to bring back in 2024 and beyond.  Robinson coached Mayfield during his stint with the Rams in 2022 after he was released by the Panthers.  If familiarity is key for Mayfield during his free agency, then perhaps that would be a selling point if the Bucs were to ultimately end up hiring Robinson.

Regardless, the move is a preliminary one, as the Bucs have just made the interview request. It also appears there is quite the line for those interested in Robinson's services, which includes the Saints, Steelers, Raiders, Patriots, and others.

For now, all the Bucs can do is take a number and wait. '
