The Kansas City Chiefs have released the final version of their depth chart ahead of Super Bowl LVIII as they get set to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to face the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.
These depth charts are considered "unofficial" even though they're released by the team. That's because they're not assembled by the coaching staff, but instead, they're made by the PR staff. These typically accurately reflect roster moves and changes, but they don't always reflect how the team will respond to an in-game injury situation involving roster depth.
While this is the final version of the team's depth chart that they'll release ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, there are some changes that we expect to happen before then. The team currently has three players who have been designated to return from injured reserve, but not activated to the 53-man roster. They also have 1-2 players who could be placed on IR ahead of the Super Bowl.
Chiefs' Super Bowl LVIII depth chart

The only change reflected on the Super Bowl depth chart comes with DT Derrick Nnadi's placement on injured reserve and the Chiefs' promotion of LB Darrius Harris from the practice squad. He jumps ahead of Cole Christiansen on the depth chart. Meanwhile, DT Tershawn Wharton jumps ahead of DT Neil Farrell Jr. on the depth chart. Even though he's not on the 53-man roster, we know that DT Mike Pennel is the actual starter across from DT Chris Jones.
Chiefs fans might be surprised to see Kadarius Toney as one of the team's No. 1 WRs on the depth chart and as the top punt returner. That has been the case for the majority of the 2023 NFL season, even during the recent six-game stretch where he hasn't played.
More changes are likely ahead of Super Bowl Sunday
The Chiefs won't release an updated version of the depth chart, but several expected roster changes could impact what the depth chart will look like.
Charles Omenihu, who suffered a torn ACL in the AFC Championship Game, is expected to be placed on injured reserve by Saturday, Feb. 10. Joe Thuney, who is dealing with a significant right pec injury, has a chance to play in the Super Bowl. If he's not cleared by Saturday, he could also end up being placed on injured reserve to make room for other players. Both Omenihu and Thuney are required to be on the depth chart until transactions involving them are made official.
The Chiefs currently have three players (Skyy Moore, Prince Tega Wanogho, and Jerick McKinnon) amid their 21-day practice windows after they've been designated to return from injured reserve. It's not likely that all of those players return to action for the Super Bowl, but they'll all have a chance to prove in the practice week that they're ready to return.
Moore is dealing with a knee injury, but he suffered a setback a week ago. Wanogho was downgraded to a limited participant in practice on Friday. McKinnon was just designated to return from groin and pelvis injuries this past Saturday.
