The Philadelphia Eagles seem to have made up their mind about head coach Nick Sirianni's future with the team — sort of.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Sirianni and general manager Howie Roseman have been working the phones to put together a new coaching staff.
“Both Eagles GM Howie Roseman and HC Nick Sirianni have been reaching out to available NFL coaches and coordinators, as well as coaching agents across the league to evaluate potential coordinator candidates to join their coaching staff as they plan for the 2024 season,” Russini wrote on X/Twitter.
This report made it sound like Sirianni is staying with the team.
However, just one hour later, Russini shared another update that Sirianni and Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie have yet to meet for their end-of-the-season interview.
"Though this may suggest that Nick Sirianni is safe," Russini wrote. "I’m told he has not met with owner Jeffrey Lurie, something that was not possible today because of logistical issues. Until that meeting happens, all bets are off."
Russini's report now sounds conflicting but from the looks of it, Lurie wants Sirianni to present him with a well-thought-out plan.
This isn't a new process for Lurie as he did the same thing with Doug Pederson back in 2021, though he was not impressed with Pederson's plan for the future and dismissed him.
We'll see if Sirianni can win Lurie over in the coming days.
