The Kansas City Chiefs suffered some attrition during the 27-24 win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC divisional round of the playoffs.

In the first half of the game, they lost both S Mike Edwards and LB Willie Gay Jr. to injuries. Later in the game, they suffered what could turn out to be a significant injury on the offensive side of the ball as well.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid updated reporters on the situation in his postgame press conference.

"Alright, as far as the injuries go, Mike Edwards had a concussion," Reid said. "Willie (Gay Jr.) tweaked his neck and that was bothering him. Then, Joe Thuney, hurt his right pec."

Starting with the good news, Gay Jr. told a fan on X (Twitter) after the game that he'd be good for the AFC title game in Baltimore. It appears he was kept out of the game out of an abundance of caution more than anything.

Edwards should have a chance to clear the NFL's concussion protocol with a full seven days between now and the game against the Ravens.

The worrying injury comes on the offensive side of the ball. The best-case scenario would be if Thuney suffered a mild strain. I'm told he'll undergo further testing when the team returns to Kansas City. Why is it such a significant injury? Just look at the type of day that he had against the Bills before his injury on Sunday night.

If Thuney were unable to go in the AFC title game, it'd be Chiefs backup OG Nick Allegretti filling in next to Donovan Smith and Creed Humphrey. He played for a good chunk of the fourth quarter with Thuney out of the game due to his injury.
