The Philadelphia Eagles have a glaring need at secondary ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft but they should also take advantage of this year's stacked wide receiver class.

One of those wideouts is Brenden Rice, the son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice.

Rice spent two years at Colorado before transferring to USC last fall. In his final season at the college level, Rice reeled in 45 catches for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Trojans as Caleb Williams' top target in 2023.

He is considered a Day 2 or Day 3 draft selection, which is perfect for the Eagles who have nine picks, including two in the second round.

However, Rice's draft stock is rising at the Senior Bowl as I write this.

Brenden Rice's NFL Draft Stock on the Rise at 2024 Senior Bowl

According to A to Z Sports' Travis May, who is reporting live from Mobile, Alabama all week, Rice ranked among his top 5 standouts following practice on Day 1 of the Senior Bowl:

When you're the son of a Hall of Fame wide receiver who is perhaps the best to ever do it, the pressure is on. That doesn't seem to be bothering Brenden Rice so far. He manhandled his first three 1-on-1 defenders today, taking all three targets for touchdowns. This was perhaps his most impressive catch, battling through blatant holding and subsequent pass interference.

Rice also had a solid Day 2 practice.

However, one player who gave him a hard time was ironically enough Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell — another draft prospect that should be on the Eagles' radar.

The Eagles still have DeVonta Smith under contract until 2025 and A.J. Brown until 2027,  they need to plan for the future at the position and this draft is the perfect time to do that.
