Sports Illustrated's Pat Forde, a man who has often been considered an enemy of the Tennessee Vols, is the reporter who initially broke the news that the NCAA is investigating UT again.
Forde, who is a stranger to objectivity, seems to doing the NCAA's bidding in his reporting.
Take this line, for instance, from his story about the lawsuit filed against the NCAA by the states of Virginia and Tennessee.
"It can be persuasively argued that elected officials should have better things to do with their time than fight the NCAA. But politicians love an easy win, and ginning up the fan base against potentially major sanctions against their favorite teams would qualify. The legal vulnerability of the NCAA also makes it an inviting target."
In Forde's view, it's ok for the NCAA to target Tennessee (while ignoring almost every other Power-5 program in the nation which also utilizes NIL deals), but it's not ok for Tennessee to fight back via the help of elected officials.
Just wild/unbelievable stuff coming from Forde's typewriter.
Anyway, Forde doesn't have many fans in East Tennessee, or in college football in general. He's a dinosaur of a reporter who thrives on doing the bidding of the NCAA or whatever athletic director needs a damage control column.
That's why Vols fans are sure to get a kick out of a tweet that Weigels, an East Tennessee based convenience store, sent on Wednesday that was directed at Forde.
Nothing unites East Tennessee like someone coming after Vol football. Forde is on the wrong side of this fight.
