Despite having the best record in the AF at the moment, the Kansas City Chiefs have an issue on the offensive side of the ball. In reality, it's an issue that every team goes through, but fans of this team are accustomed to having a game-changing, unstoppable offense. This year, it's the other way around.

The offense is not a bad one. It ranks in the middle in rushing offense, is in the top five in passing yards per game, has allowed the fewest sacks in the league, and is 13th in the league in scoring. We are just spoiled and used to this offense being one of the best there has ever been. In the Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs have never been lower than sixth in points per game in a season.

But the offense is an issue in many ways. They struggle at times to score in the red zone, and they aren't beating anyone in blowout fashion who isn't a bad team. Against the Miami Dolphins, they had a moment where they were up 21-0 at the half, and we thought the Chiefs were back. They got Rashee Rice involved on a touchdown, something we need to see more, and did everything great. Then, they didn't score again during the rest of the game.

It's little moments similar to those that happen every single game. If there were one issue the Chiefs had in 2023, it would be the area that fans and media would point to. For the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era, the defense isn't a problem, but the better half of the team. This defense is elite.

But, based on what the country and even NFL fans abroad think, the Chiefs don't have an issue at all.

Chiefs were voted as a Super Bowl team in 2023-24

At the midway point of the season, which technically was last week, but the Chiefs were on a bye, the NFL on Fox surveyed all NFL fans, asking them to pick the MVP so far, the DPOY so far, and the winners of each conference so far. And then, of course, who would win the Super Bowl?

The votes came back, and while no Chiefs player was voted on to win an award, the team was voted as the most likely to win the AFC Championship. If the people thought the Chiefs had a real issue that wasn't fixable this season, fans wouldn't be voting for them to make it to the Super Bowl.

Then again, it's hard to vote against a team that has been there five straight years and has now coined the name "Arrowhead Invitational." Fans also voted that the Eagles would beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in a Super Bowl rematch.

A team that has an actual offensive issue doesn't make the Super Bowl in back-to-back years. Could there be areas of improvement? Sure. The same could be said about last year. The Chiefs led the league in scoring last season, but their offense definitely wasn't perfect. They struggled at times, too.

So, I think this post is more about fans thinking it's the end of the world. We have been spoiled for the last five years. So, let's be thankful they have a competent defense that is considered the best defense in the league. For the last five years, the Chiefs have had the best offense in the league and an average or worse defense. It's flipped now, which isn't bad.

The Chiefs are 7-2, and defense can win championships too.

Chiefs have an immediate situation to monitor right after bye week

The Kansas City Chiefs just got back from a bye week and they already have a situation to monitor. Usually when teams get back from the bye, they are regenerated, healthy, and relaxed. That wasn't necessarily the case with one Chiefs starter, as he found himself not practicing on Wednesday. "Jody Fortson is really the […]
