The Tennessee Vols lost a game at home on Saturday afternoon for the first time since late in the 2021 season.
Georgia's dominant 38-10 win against the Vols on Knoxville ended Tennessee's 14-game home winning streak.
After the game, Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart was quick to point out how difficult it can be to win in Neyland Stadium, thanks in part to how loud Vols fans can be.
"They executed a good plan in a really hard place to play," said Smart while discussing his team's performance against Tennessee. "They've won 14 in a row here for a reason. It's hard out there…it's loud. Loud as hell."
Tennessee has only lost four games in Neyland Stadium since Josh Heupel took over in 2021. Two of those losses were to Georgia. The other two losses were to Pittsburgh and Ole Miss — two games that could've easily gone either way.
Smart's comments are just a reminder that while Tennessee's 2023 season has been frustrating at times, this is a much different program with Heupel in charge than it was under Tennessee's previous four head coaches.
