The New Orleans Saints got rough news on Tuesday. Star wide receiver Michael Thomas is headed to injured reserve with his knee injury.
For Thomas, he has to be frustrated. Injures have plagued him over the past three years, and he was hoping to avoid another one this season. Thomas looked healthy to start the season, and he maintained that until after the midway point. His one-year contract was full of incentives for this season.
Take a look at Thomas' incentives from his contract below.
Since Thomas will miss at least the next four games, these incentives will be extremely difficult to achieve. He may only play in a couple more regular season games this season, and it is possible that he may not return until the postseason.
Of course, the Saints would need to make the playoffs in order for Thomas to return then if he's forced to miss the rest of the regular season. We may have seen the last of Thomas in New Orleans.
Only time will tell.
