The Minnesota Vikings defeated the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. With the win, the Vikes improved to 4-4 on the season.
In the process, the team did something it had yet to do up to this point- score a rushing touchdown.
The Vikings were the only team in the NFL that had yet to score a TD on the ground.
Cam Akers received the honor of scoring the first rushing TD for Minnesota. Akers' 6-yard TD run came in the first quarter and gave the Vikes a 7-0 lead.
On the day, Akers had 9 carries for 19 yards while Alexander Mattison had 16 carries for 31 yards. So, while the Vikes finally scored, the running game was still far from efficient.
This will need to change, especially with Kirk Cousins likely out for the season. Perhaps finally getting into the end zone will spark something in these running backs.
The Vikings got back to .500, now they have to keep things rolling without their QB. The team's next opponent is the Atlanta Falcons.
