Come Tuesday at 4:00 p.m EST, the 2023 NFL trade deadline will have come and gone.

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven't notoriously been active at the deadline, but they aren't afraid to make a move or two.

That's why now is the time for Omar Khan to show why he was chosen to be the Steelers' next GM:

Bring In Some DB's

To this point, Omar Khan has done a good job assembling draft talent, with this year's rookie class showing the ability to play in this league.

But from a free-agent standpoint, Pittsburgh has left something to be desired, especially in the defensive backfield.

In an effort to get younger, cheaper, longer and faster in the defensive backfield, Pittsburgh parted ways with defensive backs Ahkello Witherspoon, Arthur Maulet, and Cam Sutton, all of whom have played meaningful snaps for other teams this year, while Pittsburgh continues to struggle at the cornerback position outside of Joey Porter Jr.

Now, I can't fault Khan for deciding to usher in a new era, but letting those veterans walk has certainly played a factor in the Steelers' struggles on the backend.

But Khan can change that with a few phone calls. Some of the top names like Patrick Surtain may be off the board, (he was never really on it) but there are veterans and young players to be had for the right price, including a former top pick in Buffalo

So we'll see if the "Khan artist" has anything up his sleeve today, but defensive backs should definitely be on his radar.
