The Indianapolis Colts could be watching history in the making with the season one of their players is having.

LB Zaire Franklin currently has 102 total tackles and 53 solo tackles. JJ Stankevitz of Colts.com shined a light on how impressive this feat is.

As Stankevitz shared, Franklin has become just the 2nd player in NFL history to record over 100 tackles through the first eight games of the season. Joining the likes of now Hall-of-Famer Zach Thomas, who accomplished the feat in 2005.

Franklin is currently on pace to record 216.75 total tackles this season. If he can keep or exceed his current pace, he would break the NFL's single-season total tackle record, which was set in 1993 by Hardy Nickerson with 214. If Franklin is even able to record 200 tackles, he would only be the third player in NFL history to do so.

Franklin already has the Colts single-season record for tackles in a season after he recorded 167 tackles last season. He is following up that career year with an even stronger on, as he only needs 66 tackles through the final nine games to set the franchise record again. This strong season should result in personal accolades for the Colts LB, who should earn his first Pro Bowl and has made a solid argument to be named an All-Pro.
